Getting Out of the Box was written while the author was attending a spiritual workshop in Montana. The story is based on his own experiences with believing in himself, a higher power and interactions with others. He is "the puzzle piece," going through the doubts and the joys that go along with a life of change.

Dennis Schmidt has been a cartoonist for over twenty years in Madison, Wisconsin. He also illustrates a line of humorous greeting cards which are nationally distributed by a company he co-owns.
